Rd 5 U8 White v Wollongong

Saturday was a tough match against Wollongong Olympic. They were a much bigger team than us and it was a very warm morning. Unfortunately Corey was unable to play this week, so we were without reserves, which was tough with no subs. We went down 2 goals very quickly, they other kids were just a bit bigger than we were.

After a good team talk with Coach Craig at half time, the kids played a really great second half. Josh and Riley E were both great in goals and made a lot of saves, they were always under a lot of pressure. Riley Walker was everywhere, tackling hard and chasing the ball. Ryan worked well in the midfield with Nash, and both showed a lot of good ball technique. Olivia, once again, was excellent in defence, and is proving a real champion as a solid support for the goalie and is very reliable. Josh worked really hard in the 2nd half when he was back out on the field, as did Riley in the first half, who made plenty of good runs. Ben was just everywhere, dropping back when needed and also making a few good runs up front. Ben scored both of our goals. We were unlucky to not win this week, the match was a lot closer than the 4-2 scoreline implied. We were only down by one right till the end, and we had plenty of scoring chances that were unlucky not to go in.

A lot of good passing by the kids this week, and they are just improving so much. We are a team that has a lot of talent and potential, and its exciting and fun to watch them play. Player of the week went to Nash, who ran and played hard this week, and did a good job at following instructions from the coach. Well done!

 Good luck next week!
