Our mighty under 13 girls went down to a more experienced Dapto side 6-3 in a tough and uncomprising match today at Dapto’s home ground in very hot and humid conditions.
After an early goal to Dapto the girls fought back well through 2 great goals from Alyse. In both goals there was some great lead up work from our hard working mid fielders Casey, Jade and Chloe. Meg made some great saves in goals in the first half and set up many attacking raids through some astute kicking.
From 2-1 up, Dapto got a goal back and made it 2 all. Dapto’s experiece paid dividends early in the 2nd half and in the space of 10- 15 minutes put 4 goals past our brave Goalie Jasmine.
Hannah and Keely were both unlucky to miss out on a few goals and it wont be long before they are putting a few in the back of the net!!
Tarmiqua, Pamela and Sarah again did a great job in defence and all 3 thwarted countless Dapto attacking raids. Tyla made some great runs from the mid field and assisted Jasmine W score a great Team goal near the end of the match to take the final score to 6-3.
The experience the girls are gaining in these early rounds and the Teamwork that is starting to develop will pay dividends over the coming weeks. It is hard to believe that this game was only the girls 2nd game together!!!!
Thank you to all the Girls for their courage, commitment and their ability to adapt to different positions throughout the game.
Mark and I were very proud ( as I am sure all their parents were) of how the girls stuck to the job at hand and with a bit of luck, we could of quite easily have walked away with a win.
Looking ahead to next week and we have our first home game of the year against Unanderra on Sunday morning in what will be another good test for the girls. With the improvement the Team is showing each week, it will be another great game and one not to miss!!!
Regards
Michael
