Rd 4 U11 Girls V Woonona

After a week’s rest and a great win over Coledale B, the girls faced a strong Woonona team who had scored eleven goals in their past two games. In very warm conditions and only having one reserve the girls done a mighty job and if they had taken their chances the score may have different. A strong defensive effort by Emily ,Eden, Jazabel and Kayla kept the Woonona strikers at bay who were limited to a couple of shots and scoring one off them to lead 1 nil at half time.

A strong first half by the midfield in Sammy, Remi, faith and Brianna gave opportunity for Isabell, Stella and Sarah to score but we just unable to get the ball in the back of the net.

A few positional changes in the second half gave us a little bit more confidence a great run by Emily was finished in true style with a great shot that brought us back to One all. Just as we appeared to be getting on top Sammy was tackled by a Woonona player who landed on her shoulder and she had to come off. We went to sleep for a minute and Woonona scored before we could get organised.

The effort was great by all and only having one reserve took its toll Isabell was very unlucky not to score and their keeper made some good saves. As the tired legs set in Woonona scored their third a final goal. All girls tried very hard and a few injuries during the game didn’t help us.

The coaches effort today went to Emily who run hard all day but was closely followed by Isabell and Sammy who returned after a rest and a cold drink. Let me not forget our goalkeeper Tara who made some great saves. As our confidence increases our passing and shooting will get stronger, we just got to keep up the hard work at training.
