Rd 14 U11 Girls v Woonona

Russell Vale 3 Woonona 0

Today we came up our arch enemy Woonona a team that has beaten us twice this season including a 4-1 grubbing at Woonona last time we met.  The game started well and we took early control with Samantha going close by missing an open goal.  As the game progressed Woonona showed there speed up front with a close couple of calls.  The midfield of Remi and Jasmin began to control the centre of the park giving our forwards a chance to take advantage of the size of the ground.  A great break away by the midfield allowed for Samantha to grab some room and a great finish by Samantha made the score one nil.  The defence was solid again today with Emily, Eden, Jezebel and the strong tackling of Sarah ensured that Tara had little to do.  Woonona came very close when they hit the post but we regained our focus and where unlucky not to score a couple more before half time.

We are usually a little sleepy after half time but today we came out all fired up we continued to push forward and a great attack and excellent football gave Jasmin a great cross across from Jasmin was beautiful timed by Samantha who struck the ball sweet from the near the penalty spot giving the keeper no chance.  This was certainly a settler for my nerves.  We continued to push forward with Brianna, faith, Isabel, Charlie, Stella, and Kyla all playing great soccer. Today all the girls listened and showed that they have the skills to remain at the top of the table.

With a few minutes left Jasmin scored our third goal and ensuring the three points to keep us at the top of the table.    Tara in goals today was great and made some vital stops coming of her line.  We continued to attack and should have scored a few more but today I was more than happy with the three goals that we scored.  After talking to the Woonona Coach he gave us the compliment that we are the yard stick and are playing very well.  So girls lets all get to training remain focus and build on a great win today.  Everyone enjoy your return to school.

Cheers

Martin
