Letters from the CEO of FSC

Hi everyone, The new CEO of Football South Coast, Bill Kostandas, has put pen to paper (figuratively) and asked us to communicate the messages to the masses. The first is a note about looking after players that are injured (common sense methinks) and the second is about player and spectator code of conduct and the need for each club to have ground officials to enforce it (also common sense, but quite often not followed, sadly)

Rd 9 U11.3 v Bally

Top team in the division against the bottom team and although the outcome was predictable the emphatic scoreline was rather unexpected. It’s not often you get three players in the same team scoring a hat-trick but that’s exactly what happened today with Blair Dunn, Harrison Benn & Jordan Errington. It was almost four players but Christian Baade Mortimer settled for two goals instead. At HT the score was 0-4 to Russell Vale who had yet to find top gear but they certainly made up for it in the second half as they literally laid siege to the Balgownie goal.

U13.1 State Cup

The U13.1 boys traveled up to Manly to take on St Augustines College in the second round of the State Cup.  Unfortunately the cob-webs were still set in from the early morning wake up call and St Augustines had the run of play in the first half and put in 2 scrappy goals. The boys took on the “advice” (read = spray) from Julio during the half time break and came out and played a much better, controlled, game in the second half but were unable to convert their opportunities into goals.

Rd 9 Newsletter

It was great to catch up with Stan Starr a former president of RVJFC and life member of the club down at Cawley Park on Saturday morning. Stan was president of the club during the late 70’s and early 80’s and also coached at the club for over 20 years. Stan popped by the field to see how the club was travelling and he was very impressed with what he saw and heard. Steve Smart and I had great delight in hearing some of old Stan’s stories about the club and particularly some of the successful training techniques he employed when he was a coach. Steve and I presented Stan with a club shirt and we hope to see Stan down at Cawley Park again in the near future.

Rd 8 U11.3 v Thirroul

Two goals from Blair Dunn in the opening couple of minutes put Russell Vale on the road to victory, his second a header from Harrison Benn’s corner has to be another contender for goal of the season. Although our defence didn’t have a lot to cope with, the attacks that Thirroul did mount were easily contained by a Jack Donnelly lead defence. Even though the Cobras never managed to get into top gear, two more goals one direct from a corner by Harrison Benn and another from Christian Baade Mortimer gave the U11A’s a very comfortable 4-0 HT lead.
