Two goals from Blair Dunn in the opening couple of minutes put Russell Vale on the road to victory, his second a header from Harrison Benn’s corner has to be another contender for goal of the season. Although our defence didn’t have a lot to cope with, the attacks that Thirroul did mount were easily contained by a Jack Donnelly lead defence. Even though the Cobras never managed to get into top gear, two more goals one direct from a corner by Harrison Benn and another from Christian Baade Mortimer gave the U11A’s a very comfortable 4-0 HT lead.
Thirroul changed their keeper for the second half and the lad had a blinder, he must have pulled off at least 7 or 8 good saves as Russell Vale upped the tempo. However there wasn’t much their keeper could do about a goal from Riley Hanlon and two goals from Jordan Errington to finish off the game 7-0. The score allowed me the opportunity to give Ethan Johnson a run on pitch with Brody Armour taking over between the sticks. Although no more goals were to follow it was another convincing performance by the Cobras against a side who until a few weeks ago were in Division II.
I am running a little competition for the players in regards to the European Championship kicking off next weekend. There will of course be lots of chocolate as prizes and all they have to do is predict the score of each of the 24 group stage games. A form will be handed out at training tonight (also see attached) but it must be returned to me on Saturday morning prior to the game “away” to Balgownie K/O 9:40am.
Please note there is only training on Monday this week as I will be working away on Wednesday and wont get home until 11:00pm that night. Sincere apologies to all Mum’s who enjoy their 90mins of peace and quiet on a Wednesday evening.
