Rd 9 Newsletter

It was great to catch up with Stan Starr a former president of RVJFC and life member of the club down at Cawley Park on Saturday morning. Stan was president of the club during the late 70’s and early 80’s and also coached at the club for over 20 years. Stan popped by the field to see how the club was travelling and he was very impressed with what he saw and heard. Steve Smart and I had great delight in hearing some of old Stan’s stories about the club and particularly some of the successful training techniques he employed when he was a coach. Steve and I presented Stan with a club shirt and we hope to see Stan down at Cawley Park again in the near future.

With the wet weather we are experiencing this week keep an eye on RVJFC website and also Council website (link on RVJFC website) as both these sites will have information regarding wash outs and ground closures etc. On Saturday morning tune into the local FM radio stations as they normally update all junior sports cancellations as well. Fingers crossed the weather clears and we get to play a full round of soccer!

Under 13.1 State Cup Update

Good luck to Julio, Garry and all the boys from the under 13.1’s as they play their second round State Cup match this Sunday morning. Their game against St Augustine’s was called off at 7.30am last Sunday due to the weather and by this time the convoy of Russell Vale families were up near Mascot airport! A quick pit stop at McDonalds for breakfast and they were on the road for the return trip home!

Stay tuned for more details over the coming weeks. It would be great to see a massive turnout for what promises to be a memorable night!

The Round 9 draw is on the website. Most team’s draws are now on the FSC website which you can access via a link on our club website. Garry our webmaster also has upcoming rounds on our website. A reminder to always check FSC website on Thursday night for any last minute changes that may have taken place.

Ground duty (Canteen/ BBQ/ Ground marshall etc.) this week will be completed by the under 8 parents and supporters. Under 9s and Under 10s are asked to set their fields up and provide ground marshalls!

Coach/ Managers will be sending out rosters etc. to be filled and please remember that it is all parents responsibility to assist with ground duties when it is their nominated times/ days. It is a small amount of time in the context of the whole season and your assistance and involvement will be much appreciated.

A ground duty plan for the full year was approved by the Committee at Club Meeting on Tuesday 1st May and has sent to all Coaches and Managers for implementation.
