Rd 13 U11 Girls v Bally

Friday night brought the girls their first ever night game. It was a cold night but a nice night to play soccer. After a strong performance the week before downing Thirroul 4 nil the girls were full of confidence as results had ensured that we remained on first position by three points.

Tonight we were up against a Balgownie side that we had defeated in the first round. AS the game progressed it appeared that it was going to be a hard fought struggle after a few minutes Stella was injured and had to be replaced. Balgownie were a lot more physical and did not pull out of any tackles. Our determination in front of goals paid dividends when Jasmine listened once to her dad and had a great shot away from the keeper to make it one nil. Once again our defence of Sarah who was solid as a rock, Jezebel, Emily and Eden kept the Bally girls well away from Tara who never touched the ball once in the first half. Our midfielders of Remi, Sammy, Faith, Brianna, Isabel and Jasmine kept the middle of the nice and tight. Our Forwards Kyla, Charlie and Stella done a great job chasing down the ball when the opportunity was there.

For the second half Tara entered the field of play and was strong at the back and Jezebel went into goals it was another great defensive show as Jez never touched the ball once. A great shot by Jasmine made the score 2 nil and let me breathe a little bit easier. A strong tackle by a Balgownie player knocked Jasmine over and a sore knee was the result, hoping its not to serious. The last 15 minutes was a lot closer and Bally came very close but a great challenge by Sarah Stopped them. In the last few minutes a strong attack by Sammy saw her just miss she had to jump over the keeper and landed on her face as a true trooper she got up dusted herself down and kept going.
Tonight was a good lesson for the girls that at times there is tough physical teams to play and that to remain at the top we got to try that little bit harder. It was a great effort and the 3 points well deserved. Coaches effort went to Eden. Lets keep up the great work and thanks to parents who braved the weather on Friday night.

Cheers
Martin
