U13.1 Trial v Bulli U14.1

The boys had their first hit out of the season, a trial match against Paul Jones’ Bulli side. The boys from each side know each other pretty well, some from Academy training, and some from school. Both sides played the game in a great spirit with the Bulli side scoring more goals than the RV side. Both coaches were very happy with the way their sides played and are looking forward to more of the same passion, and passing, as the year unfolds.

  1. Thanks for the invite to have the game first of all.
With the weather the way its been finally getting on the park the last few weeks has been a relief. As you said some of the boys know each other pretty well and suppose this added a little bit to the game. But it was played in a good spirit. Both teams worked very hard and I know my boys got a bit of a shock as to how well the ‘Vale played. The score was irrelevant as it was a chance for me and the Chilean maestro to see how the boys are going after a 6/7 month break and know what we have to work on.PLENTY.But in saying that I have spoken to Julio since and we both agreed they all put in a fantastic effort and if they work hard at training and continue to develop their football can both do well in their respective divisions this season.
Good luck to you and the boys this season.
Also a mention to the young ref the other night who was officiating his first game. Well done and good luck here as well.
Thanks web manager Luyten for putting the photo up there I’ll let my boys know its there to have a look at but on closer inspection I’ll disown the one down the front, Kurt “WEETBIX” Decker. After all he is an ex ‘Vale boy.

    Jonesy.

  2. As Paul and Garry mentioned, the game was played in great spirit with both sides putting on a good show for the parents and friends at the game.
I was very pleased with my boys in this game, and they realized how important a good first touch, passing and mobility are at their stage of their football life, which is something we’ve been emphasizing in the past couple of weeks, and it showed against a very well drilled Bulli side.

We took the game to Bulli especially in the 1st half but as Paul said, his boys realized that they had to lift their game, and that’s exactly what they did in the second half.
I wish both sides all the best for this season, and based on that performance it all looks good for both sides this year.

Thanks to Garry for organizing the game and the referee for being his first game in charge.

    Julio
