U11.3 Trial No 1 v Corrimal

Hi Guys,

I know you should never read too much into a friendly (trial game) but I believe last Friday’s 4-2 win away to Corrimal is a good example of how far the players have come in the past year. Last season Corrimal won the League and Grand Final beating us in a friendly, two league games and a Semi Final along the way. We recently turned them over 4-3 in the Grand Final of 5 a side comp and now we have beat them on their own ground.

Admittedly we started the game off very rusty and gifted them a 2-0 HT lead but the Cobras more than made up for it in the second half. Goals from Ethan Larnach, Harrison Benn & a brace from Jordan Errington finished the game off in style. I always emphasise to the kids that it’s their performance not the result that matters and the way they played especially in the second half bodes well for the 2012 season. Brody Armour and Harrison Benn were making their debut for the A’s and both looked very comfortable in the side.

On a personal note it was very pleasing after the game to hear the Corrimal Coaching staff saying they wished their players could play pass & move as good as Russell Vale and remember they are a Division II side. Let’s not get carried away the players still have a long way to go but at least they are on the right track.

Just a reminder we have a top NSW Coach taking the lads for a training session tonight, so even I might learn something.
