The RVPS Team played in the second round of the state wide knockout tournament against Balgownie PS. The boys tried extremely hard and were gallant in defeat, going down 6-1. The scoreline was not an accurate reflection on how well the boys played, and how competitive they were, against a team that is likely to progress a long way in the tournament.
The side was without Mitch Turner who was away, after an unfortunate mix-up with the scheduling of the game.
The side was down 4 – 0 at half time (including a penalty), but came back in the second half with a well taken goal by Josh Hoffman, which was testament to their never-day-die spirit. The defensive line of Alexei, William, Jack, Brody and Luke were forced to work extremely hard against quality opposition. Jacob and Nathan also played their part in keeping the Bally boys at bay.
The midfield of Sam, Ryan, Wilson and Josh did their best to get back and support the defence and shovel the ball forward when they could. The workhorse of the day award goes to Kurt “Double” Decker for his effort. He recovered well from the kick he received last week and was tireless in his efforts and the amount of ground he covered.
Casey played the lone marksman role and did the best he could with the ball that came through.
Mr Grierson thanked the boys for their efforts in what was a learning experience for everyone involved. Good luck when you return to your clubs on the weekend, boys, thanks for your efforts with the team, and we look forward to seeing you at Cawley Park again in the future. It was a pleasure being part of the experience.
