Round 1 Wrap Up

Round 1 Wrap up.

It was great to see that most of our RVJFC Teams got to play their games last weekend despite the wet and wild weather during the week. Only our under 14girls and 14 boys missed out on their scheduled matches as they were both drawn to play on the Friday night. Both teams will play catch up matches over the next few weeks. Our under 7’s had the luxury of playing their first matches of the year at Cawley park and it looked like all Teams have picked up from last year with good skill, sportsperson ship and enjoyment displayed by all players.

Each week we will report RVJFC Teams results from the under 10’s age division up to our under 16 girls. It would be good to have some match reports from teams for the under 6’s to the under 9’s and a few photos also are always good to brighten up the newsletter.

Under 10’s Won 14-0 in a lopsided contest against a Woonona side that never gave up. Coach Craig was happy with the first up performance and even more so that goals were shared evenly amongst his Team.

Under 11 Boys Won 4-1 in a close contest vs. Corrimal at their home ground. Corrimal are generally very strong in the junior age groups and this team was no different. It was a good morale boosting win for a team with new coach Garry at the helm and it will be great to watch this team grow and improve as a team throughout the year.

Under 11 Girls Lost 3-1 in a great game against Coledale. This is this Team’s first year in an all-girls comp and the signs for Coach Tony and the girls were very encouraging. Great to see a few girls play their first game for RVJFC. Welcome girls and enjoy the year!

Under 12.2’s Won 3-2 against Bulli who were semi-finalists last year in division 2. This was our teams 1st game in division 2 after winning League and Grand Final in Division 3 last year. The Team came back from 2-1 down with 15 minutes to go to get the win with only minutes to spare. What was even more incredible was that they had the bare 11 players- great work Shaun and Team!

Under 12.4’s Won 3-1 in a clinical performance against Helensburgh that had coach Steve very excited about the year ahead. The Team led 2-1 for most of the match and the victory was sealed late in the match by a great goal from outside the 18yd box. Great win Team and looks like you’re in for another big year!

Under 14 boys and Under 14 Girls games were both postponed due to the weather.

Under 16 girls Won 7-1 against Thirroul out at Thirroul on Sunday morning. This year the Team has a secret shooting drill and will prove to be the Team’s secret weapon throughout the Year. This was the best start to the year that this team has ever had and with a few new recruits added with 13 girls returning from last year this promises to be a big year for the Girls! Great win girls and let’s keep the momentum going!
