Round 1 U15.2G v Coledale

Russel Vale v’s Coledale – Friday 13th April 2012

Well it was the first game of the season and the score definitely did not reflect the game. While we came out slightly stunned in the first half and let in 4 goals (and nearly gave me a heart attack), we fielded a very different team in the second half. Even Coledale’s coach commented on how well the girls played in the second half and how unlucky we were not to score, even though we let in another 2 goals.

The Forwards

Paige’s ball skills and vision was spot on as she ran her heart out down the left side. Hats off to Ashleigh, she did not stop running all game and was just unlucky that the ball did not go in the back of the net.  Alyse done some good counter attacks on the right hand side and she too was unlucky she didn’t get a goal.

The Midfield

Jazz tried hard in centre midfield chasing and laying off good balls to the forwards. Jade’s counter attack on the left hand side was great and she even stepped up and played in the fowards. Chloe’s passion and enthusiasm shone through once again in both right and centre midfield. Hannah was our all rounder playing defender and backing up on the right hand side of the midfield, but no more throw ins for her! (ha ha)

The Defenders

Meg stood her ground once again and was not intimidated by the other teams very fast forwards. Emily cleared out some very good balls and applied pressure. Once again Sarah defended well and showed some excellent dribbling and runs up the sideline. Well done to Shania on her first official soccer match. For someone who has never played soccer she played very well and I am sure she will improve as the season continues.

Goalie

Even though it was 6 nil, Kylie once again did an excellent job, putting her body on the line and has the bruises on her leg to prove it.

Thanks to Eden from the U13 girls for backing up after her game to help us out with subs.

Well done to all the girls that played tonight. Overall, while there are some areas we need to work on, the hard work we have been putting in at training is starting to show on the field. This game and the next 2 games are not part of the competition so no competition points are awarded. This means we still have 2 weeks to work on our game play and show the other teams what we are capable of. So let’s start believing in ourselves and each other.

Danny
