Rd 6 U11Girls v Bally

After four rounds of grading the girls were graded into division 2, which is great due to the number of girls who are playing their first year at soccer and also due to some of the girls playing up in their age groups.
Our first competition game we were drawn against Balgownie at Balgownie always a hard game for any team. This week we were without the services of Emily who has made a strong partnership in the middle at the back with Eden. The game started at a slow pace and we started to slowly take control the defence was well organised by the reliable Jasmine who kept Eden, Jezebel, Charlie and Sarah on their toes the whole game today the talking was much better. The midfield was well controlled with Samantha and Remi in the middle with Stella, Brianna and Faith all running hard on the wings. Over the past couple of weeks we have had plenty of shots at the keeper but today Samantha listened and put one past the goalkeeper to make the half time score 1-0.
The second half we continued to pressure Balgownie goals with Isabell, Kayla continually running. Our passing today was a lot better and we had plenty of chances up the sideline with plenty of balls being crossed into the penalty area. It wasn’t till the last five minutes that Samantha again popped up and put another past the Bally goalkeeper making it 2-0. With a minute to go Stella had the chance to make it 3-0 but her goal was disallowed due to the ball not leaving the area certainly a goal that she deserved. Let me not forget our goalkeeper who today kept her first clean sheet well done Tara great effort.
Today was a great team effort and was the best the girls have played all year, with this commitment the girls will continue to improve and the results will fall our way. The best effort award went to Samantha who ran hard in midfield all day and scored two goals today. A big thanks to all the parents who continue to bring the girls along to training every week and to the games. See you all at training.
