NEWSLETTER ROUND 14

Hopefully everyone enjoyed a safe and fun filled school holiday period and are looking forward to the remaining 5 matches of the year. This week is a little quieter at Cawley park as we have no Friday night games and no SSG hubs, although we still do have a big Saturday planned with 4 teams playing down there. It will be a Russell Vale Super Saturday as we have our inaugural Trivia night at Woonona Bowling Club!! With 15 tables now confirmed it is shaping up as a great night. Remember it is not to late to get a table together and payment and confirmation of tables will be taken up to this Thursday night- so don’t miss out!!!

Under 7 Yellow Report

As coach of the U7 Yellow, my job has always be made easier by the “Never give up and always try harder”, approach by Ashton the Mad Defender, Austin the All Star All Rounder, Julian the Sneaky Kicker, Riley Big Boot Slogger and Noah the Cunning Attacker.
I would also like to make mention of Phoneix the Every Directions Man and Janaya the Unpredictable Attacker for filling in on match games when we have had players absent.
Every week their skills and confidence improves, I am extremely pleased with their progress.
A big thank you to my manager and all the parents and carers for your constant support during our hub matches, washing shirts, supplying oranges and attending cold training sessions.

RESULTS FROM COMPETITION TEAMS ROUND 11

RVJFC 11.3’s 8 VS Tarrawanna 3

The final score line wasn’t reflective of the closeness of the game between the teams running 1st and 3rd on the League ladder. Tarrawanna were up 3-1 with about 5 minutes before half time before 2 quick goals got us back in the contest. The team then dominated the second half with 5 unanswered goals and it was great to see the character showed by the team after falling behind in the first half.

RVJFC 11.4’s 1 VS Helensburgh 3

This was a close contest and with both sides only separated by 1 point on the League ladder the result went down to the wire. Our side were a few troops down and had to call in a few reinforcements but Helensburgh prevailed in the end. The side is already looking forward to next weeks match against Albion Park at the Cawldron.

RVJFC 13.1’s 3 Vs   Helensburgh 0

The team scored an important victory against the team running 6th in the league. Our boys are running 5th and are closing in on the top 4. So to get a good win up like this, especially in an away fixture will do their confidence the world of good. They play Balgownie Black who are running 4th this week in what will be a cracker of a match!!

RVJFC 13.1G’s 1 Vs Unanderra 2

The girls were unlucky to go down to not only one of the best teams in the Illawarra but also the state in an unforgettable match on Friday night. This was one of the best performances of the year from the team and it puts them in good stead for their highly anticipated game with Bulli this Sunday morning. This game will be 2nd up against 3rd and will be another great game to watch!

RVJFC 15.G2 Vs Coledale

Unfortunately due to a serious injury sustained by a Coledale player the game was abandoned at the 14minute mark.
