Rd 10 U11 Girls v Unanderra

Today we came up against the competition leaders in Unanderra, due to the long weekend we were down in numbers giving us no reserves.  Young Haley Waller from the U9’s was good enough to turn up to give us one reserve.  Due to numbers being down and the way we played against Woonona it had the looks of a hard day at the office for the girls.  We started the game off at a frantic pace and pressured the Unanderra goal with Samantha coming very close early.  A great run from Kyla from half way and an excellent finish by herself gave us a great start in the first five minutes 1 nil Russell Vale.  The defence was well organised by Jasmin and Emily kept the Unanderra forwards well away from Tara in goals.  These girls were well supported by Eden and Sarah who both had strong tackling games. Up front we continued to pressure the goals and Stella made the score 2 nil with a great shot.  The midfield of Samantha, Remi, Jezebel, and Isabel played strong and allowed us to keep the pressure up. Haley was also a great support for the team ensuring that we lead at half time  2 nil.

We had to make sure that we didn’t go to sleep and with great passing during the whole second half and strong tackling we were able to score another three goals making it a five nil win to remain in the top three.  The goals came from Samantha her sixth of the season, Isabel who tried all day and finally broke her duck and the fifth was from Jasmin who had a strong game again and was rewarded with most effort of the day.

Today the girls proved if they concentrate they can do very well in this competition.  It is great to see the girls enjoying their soccer and see them sing their team song after every game win lose or draw. It was a tremendous team effort by every player and a special thanks to Haley who turned up at short notice.  Lets keep the ball rolling and keep improving on our skills.  See you all at training.
