NEWSLETTER ROUND 2

NEWSLETTER ROUND 2

Hi everyone and welcome to our first Club newsletter of the Year. Our aim of the weekly newsletter is to keep everyone informed of what is happening in and around the Club, share results and assist with the organisation of game day duties at Cawley Park or as we like to call it the Cawldron!

Last weekend’s 1st round saw a huge amount of football played at Cawley Park. We had our under 13 and under 15 girls playing there on Friday night, on Saturday we had all our under 7’s, the under 9s, both under 10’s Teams and both under 11’s Teams. On Sunday we had our under 13s boys and then the over 30’s Russell Vale Vipers capped off a big weekend Sunday afternoon. A big thank you to all teams who helped out with Canteen and ground duties for their respective matches over the weekend. An even bigger thank you to the under 7s parents and supporters who ran the canteen and BBQ on the Saturday morning. It was a huge day down there with 13 games being played and they did an exceptional job- especially at short notice!! THANKS- YOUR EFFORTS WERE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!!!

RESULTS FROM COMPETITION TEAMS ROUND 1

Under 13’s Girls Division 1: RVJFC 0 vs. Unanderra 5

Under 15’s Girls Division 2: RVJFC 0 vs. Coledale 6

Both girls’ teams put on great performances against tough opposition. In fact the Unanderra under 13s Team won the NSW Champion of champion team last year- indicating that they were the best under 13 girls team in the state!! The under 15 girls’ team had no luck and created plenty of chances but on this occasion were unable to put any goals in the back of the net. With the Easter school holidays, there were a number of key people missing from both teams and we will look forward to welcoming them back over the coming weeks.

Under 13’s Boys Division 1: RVJFC 4 vs. Unanderra 1

Under 13 Boys Division 1: RVJFC 1 vs. Figtree 3

The under 13s Boys will play 22 rounds this year- other age groups will play 18, meaning that they will play 2 games in one weekend on 4 occasions this season. The first double header was the first round and they did well to come away with a win and a loss. I am told the Team had the ball on a string on Friday night against Unanderra and dominated all facets of play to come away with a 4-1 win. On Sunday morning they played against Figtree- last years undefeated League Champions and after a slow start performed well to go down 3-1. Again there were a few key players missing and they will be back in action round 2.

Under 11’s Boys Division 3: RVJFC 11 vs. Dapto 2

After showing some impressive form in the trials, the Team started the competition in fine style and were up 8-1 at half time. The second half was a lot tougher and full credit to Dapto for bouncing back and performing strongly to only let in 3 goals from our Team and score another 1 of their own. It was a good 1st up performance and they look set for a big year if they can continue on that form!

Under 11’s Boys Division 4: RVJFC 2 vs. Coledale 4

The boys were missing a number of key players and 3 players from the under 10’s team backed up to play their part in a solid all round Team performance. This Team were semi-finalists last year and went close to making the grand final and once they have all players back from holidays we can expect another big year from the Team!

Also Congratulations to our newly formed over 30s Women’s team the Russell Vale Vipers. They had their first match on Sunday afternoon in front of a big crowd at Cawley Park. They eventually went down 2-0 against Oak Flats but showed that with a few more games under their belt that they will be a team to watch this year!

Thanks to the coaches who have already started putting together match reports for their teams. Full match reports can be found on our website: rvjfc.com.au. If any coach or manager from any team (under 6’s to Under 15’s) would like to put a few words together to be included in newsletter or a full match report, please feel free to do so- it doesn’t take too long and the kids will get a real kick out of it!! All match reports and photos from game can be emailed to our web dude or myself at: garryluyten@bigpond.com or mjbenn13@hotmail.com

UPCOMING EVENTS

We have our Luke Kerr under 8 Gala Day coming up on Sunday 6th May. This is always a big day and we have had over 20 teams play in this over the last few years. This year is shaping up to be bigger and better and we have already started receiving nominations from teams looking to take part.

ROUND 2 DRAW – See earlier post.

We only have 3 junior teams at home this weekend.

Note: Refer to ground in far right hand column to see what ground your team is playing at. For example Under 6’s Teams are playing at THI: which is abbreviation for Thirroul. Also over the next few weeks the draw may change due to scheduling errors- so please check Football South Coast website prior to weekend’s game. If Committee is notified of any changes we will be sure to pass them onto respective coach and manager. You can find the link to FSC website on our club website.

On behalf of the Committee, I would like to take this opportunity in wishing all Teams good luck for the weekend and the season ahead and once again thank and congratulate all Teams for their efforts with ground duty at Cawley Park in round1.

Regards

Michael Benn

RVJFC President.
