We had another huge amount of football at Cawley Park over the weekend. We had a few highlights over the weekend and one would of had to of been the U8 hub on Saturday where the canteen had its biggest single day in years!! Thanks to our under 8 parents and other parents from other teams who helped out on this day and contributed to the result! Days like these reinforce how important duty days are for teams to junior sporting clubs like ours. Our Committee is determined to keep our registration fees the lowest in the district and we can only achieve this with all families contributing to days like these. Remember the more parents/ supporters that help out on their nominated Ground duty the easier the day becomes for everyone!!

NEWSLETTER ROUND 6

There has been plenty happening over the last few weeks at Russell Vale Junior Football Club and it is fair to say that the season is now in full swing. Thankfully the weather gods have been kind to us and there has been plenty of action on and off the pitch. As we mentioned last week our under 7’s played down at an Albion Park Gala Day last weekend and for those of you that brought the Mercury last Thursday you would have seen our players featured in the Junior Sports section. There were some great action shots and also a Team shot that really captures the essence of the day. Off the pitch we have had our Team photos taken and electrical work upgrades and also the installation of benches for the technical areas on the main field. Thank you to all Teams who either cancelled or rescheduled training as the electrical systems were being upgraded and hopefully we will have no more major disruptions to our training schedules until the end of the season. Also thank you to Jeff Charlesworth, Troy Bray and Tony Maddox who between them co-ordinated the moving and raising of our container which stores a lot of our SSG and other equipment. It was quite a project and your time and effort was very much appreciated!!

NEWSLETTER ROUND 5

Last Sunday was a nominated day for gala days within the region and what a spectacular success it was at Cawley Park for our annual Luke Kerr Memorial Gala Day. Thank you to all players, parents and supporters of the Under 8 Teams for your wonderful contribution to a very successful day for the Club! We also had our under 7’s play down at Albion Park and they had a great day and loads of fun as well. Well done to both age groups and parents and supporters!

NEWSLETTER ROUND 4

It was great to see our 4 under 6 Teams playing their first games on Cawley Park on Saturday morning. The future looks bright for our Club with great skill and sporting behaviour displayed by all players. Full credit to the coaches for the way teams are being coached and playing and it was pleasing to see all players having so much fun!

The wet weather during the week meant that there was little football action for our Club teams last weekend. Our home ground Cawley Park was closed all weekend as were most of the grounds in the northern Illawarra area. Remember to check out our website as we will post updates on ground closures and fixture changes as soon as we receive them. It also has a link to Wollongong council grounds where you can check to see if grounds are open or not. 

Upgrading of Cawley Park facilities 

Members of our Committee were invited to attend the announcement of the 2012 NSW Community Building Partnership program by Ryan Park the Keira State MP on Monday 23^rd April at the Arcadian theatre in Corrimal. Tony Maddox and I were able to make the event which will see a grant of $41250 provided to the upgrade of existing facilities at Cawley Park. In addition to this Ryan Park also spoke with Wollongong City Council requesting additional funding which was approved, resulting in over $80,000 funding secured to improve facilities at our home ground!!

NEWSLETTER ROUND 2

Hi everyone and welcome to our first Club newsletter of the Year. Our aim of the weekly newsletter is to keep everyone informed of what is happening in and around the Club, share results and assist with the organisation of game day duties at Cawley Park or as we like to call it the Cawldron!

Last weekend’s 1^st round saw a huge amount of football played at Cawley Park. We had our under 13 and under 15 girls playing there on Friday night, on Saturday we had all our under 7’s, the under 9s, both under 10’s Teams and both under 11’s Teams. On Sunday we had our under 13s boys and then the over 30’s Russell Vale Vipers capped off a big weekend Sunday afternoon. A big thank you to all teams who helped out with Canteen and ground duties for their respective matches over the weekend. An even bigger thank you to the under 7s parents and supporters who ran the canteen and BBQ on the Saturday morning. It was a huge day down there with 13 games being played and they did an exceptional job- especially at short notice!! THANKS- YOUR EFFORTS WERE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!!!
